St John's Churt and Rushmoor

Prayer is at the centre of who we are and what we do.

St John's Bible Passage

Prayer meeting We meet every Monday between 2.00 and 3.00pm. Please see the Notice Sheets or contact Rev Tony Whitaker for more details about where we meet. We pray for the World, The Church and for Individuals.

Prayer ministry Members of our prayer ministry team are available in the Chapel after every 9.45am service. They are always located in the library area of the church. You are welcome to seek prayer for any reason, whether for yourself or for someone else. This is treated confidentially, under the authority of the Vicar.

Prayer requests Just to the left as you come in the main church door you will find a notebook and a pen. This enables you to request prayers for any reason. Members of the church will pray for the people names and for the situations listed, for the following month.

Private prayer The church is open every day and the library area is specifically set aside for prayer. There are a number of books, pictures, liturgies and other things to assist you in prayer. Or you may simply wish to enjoy a time of quiet.

Emergency Prayer Chain If you have an urgent prayer request and would like to put it on our prayer chain so that a number of church members are praying alongside you please contact us.

SOME PRAYERS.................................

Prayers concerning Migration

Many - in these areas of conflict are persecuted for their faith and we pray:-

Father that you will comfort all victims of intolerance and those oppressed by their fellow humans.  Remember in your kingdom those who have died for their faith.   Lead the oppressors towards compassion and give hope to the suffering.

Many - as a consequence of conflict are refugees,

Many choose to flee their homes to escape shattered nations and to build a new life and we pray for their needs, safety and shelter:-

Almighty and merciful God your Son became a refugee and had no place to call his own, look with mercy on those who today are fleeing from danger, homeless and hungry.  Bless those who work to bring them relief, inspire generosity and compassion in all our hearts and guide the nations of the world towards that day when all rejoice in your kingdom of justice and of peace.

Many - are driven to become migrants and as we witness the despair and distress in Greece, Italy and in Calais we pray for unity and strong leadership to achieve resolve with humanity:-

For all those who see 'home' and all that it means disappear behind them.  For all those who cannot see a home in the days ahead of them, for all those who dwell in daily insecurity, for all those who are weary and without a safe place to rest their heads, for all families in migration we pray.

For all these many people, Lord, we pray.

 Lord in your mercy........
